i'm sure you've all heard about that woman who narrowly avoided being stoned to death in nigeria.
stoned to death?
why didn't they just burn her at the stake?

so would you say that you had enough sleep whilst you were an active dub?
i personally remember feeling tired all the time.
i had two young children and the treadmill just never seem to stop.
I am of the opinion that the mind is very connected with the body, and is a vital part of the health of the body. I think of the oppression, anger, and pressure in that group, and I just get a headache thinking of it all. I believe my body would not be very happy if I got back into it and might give me some health problems.

the jws have some peculiar rules regarding doing things with the opposite sex.
truly, the most bizzare one has to be the one about if a "brother" is driving along and he sees a "sister" waiting for a bus and he offers her a ride, in most cases he will make her sit in the backseat.
even more likely, the "sister" will turn down the ride because it may "stumble" someone who may see them together.
My brother, who is 41, was dating a JW woman a year or so ago. The woman was older than he, too. My Mom had to go along to chaperone! I just started laughing when my brother told me he kissed the lady in the movie theatre and my Mom elbowed him. LOL!

a friend gave me permission to post this.
i think it's a good letter, it might help others formulate their thoughts; she understands it may not be read or considered deeply, but things can't get much worse with her family at this point anyway.
no contact is not that much different than contact once per year or less, and sometimes it's just really important to have the people who should know you, at least know you a little.
Thanks for sharing the letter, Sixy and "L". Ah the beauty of simple eloquence.

i heard on the news this am that texas and other sates have their own do not call list that is not affected by the natioanl do not call list and which the judge yesterday has no authority to overturn.
there is a charge for it.
I think we paid $3 for a year or something, and it's definitely *worth* it. Nothing more annoying than those irritating phone calls ten times a day trying to sell you something. People who can't take "no" for an answer. I started just saying "hold on" and leaving the phone on the counter for awhile til they hung up.

now this is weird and just came over the news:
"britain's estimated nine million domestic cats are being blamed by scientists for infecting up to half the population with a parasite that can alter peoples personalities.
the figures emerge from studies into toxoplasma gondii, a parasite carried by almost all the uk's feline population and maybe elsewhere in the world.
<sobs>
Hope my husband doesn't read this article! Now he'll make *me* change the cat litter!

at the service meeting last week, it was announced that which area of service do we need to work on more?
was it bible studies, return visits or not homes?.
well, apparently it was not at homes.
There's only one thing to say to *that* subject line and that is: Thank heaven they are only reaching 10%! Hopefully, it'll be 0% at some point in the future.

i was wondering today.
my own experience with the jw's started when i was 3 years old.
at 8, i began to experience the misogynystical attitude that characterized being a jw woman, and was really adverse to it.
I was wondering today. My own experience with the JW's started when I was 3 years old. At 8, I began to experience the misogynystical attitude that characterized being a JW woman, and was really adverse to it. It never seemed that God loved us, women, very much. We weren't allowed to give talks, we had to wear napkins on our heads, we had to be in complete submission to the "heads" of our households, had to bear them children or NOT, yet we were made in his image! How could a God that made us in his image, totally ignore what we were to him? If we were made in his image, too, equally, we would be just as "heard." This
i have not been to a meeting in three years 20-plus days.
i wonder if i missed any new light (tm).
certainly, i have had so much fun since leaving.
I'm just curious about this "marking" stuff.
So, someone does something really crappy, and they have a "local needs" talk about it. How does the congregation know who they are talking about? Do they say their name from the podium? What if someone was involved in *really secretive* bad behavior that wasn't quite disfellowshipping material, but wasn't really good? Does the speaker just announce the person's name and they they all "mark" him, or do they all just INTUIT who it was and then start marking people they don't even know? As far as I remember, people that were disfellowshipped were announced from the podium. I musta not been paying attention <hard to figure> when there was a "marking" talk. How did everyone know who they were talking about? Isn't it supposed to be private information when someone was privately reproved?
